From opera [Lot's Daughters and Their Father] to jazz [the ocean of love], from new-age [Suzanne Ciani's Grammy-nominated Neverland] to contemporary solo piano [Muna Tseng Dance Projects' Shattered: Hymns for Mortal Creatures], composer/librettist Ari Frankel's works have gained kudos worldwide, including The Bourges Festival, SummerStage at Central Park, The Israel Festival, and The International Film & TV Festival of New York.

He has composed for William H. Macy at The Atlantic Theater, Susan Batson at The Actors Studio, John Kelly, Fiona Shaw, Tai Dang, and many others. Film soundtracks include Robert Redford and Michael Apted's Incident At Oglala, Crows, Tel Aviv Stories, and several NHK High-Definition TV programs, including Passage To Vietnam, Doctors Without Frontiers, and The White House: Inside With The President's Photographers.

New York City Opera performed excerpts from his to scratch an angel as part of their Showcasing American Composers series, and American Opera Projects produced two full piano & voice readings of the powerful, tonal/modal work. Finally scored for soloists, choir, and chamber orchestra, Frankel is exploring production and recording interests in to scratch an angel premieres. He has recently completed wiping ceramic tiles for countertenor & piano, an adult animals song cycle, and is drafting blueBird, a musical after the Maurice Maeterlinck play.
