New York City Opera showcased excerpts from to scratch an angel as part of their Showcasing American Composers series, with George Manahan conducting. American Opera Projects then produced two full piano & voice readings of the work with Centro Culturale Primo Levi. Performers included John Kelly, Chris Pedro Trakas, Wendy Hill, Jennifer Hines, and Deborah van Renterghem, with Robin Guarino staging, and Steven Osgood conducting from the piano. The well attended readings left powerful impressions of a unique work waiting to be discovered on either a main or alternative opera stage. The economically orchestrated to scratch an angel projects nostalgically contemporary visualizations through any space, directly into listeners' memories and emotions.
